Gordon Steer

Gordon’s passion for adventure has taken him to some of the world’s most remote and fascinating regions. Over the years he has trekked across the Andes in Peru, the mountains of Morocco and Ethiopia, the deserts of Oman, the Tian Shan Mountains of Central Asia and the Himalaya in Nepal. He has also cycled across Tibet and travelled extensively through Central America.

His journeys have taken him to the far ends of the planet as well, including expedition voyages to Antarctica, the Arctic and Greenland. More recently he has explored Alaska, adding another spectacular wilderness destination to his growing list of adventures.

Despite his global travels, Europe remains one of Gordon’s favourite places to explore. He travels there as often as possible and has experienced many of the continent’s classic cycling and island-hopping routes. Recent journeys include cycling through the Baltics and the Balkans, exploring Croatia’s Adriatic islands by bike and boat, riding along the Danube and tackling the dramatic climbs of Madeira.

Gordon has travelled widely throughout Europe and recently completed an ambitious road trip from London to Split, crossing eight countries along the way. Some of his favourite European destinations include Montenegro’s rugged coastline, the extraordinary monasteries of Meteora in Greece, the island of Korcula in Croatia, Slovenia’s Lake Bled, France’s Dordogne region and the magnificent peaks of the Dolomites.

Through UTracks he has experienced a wide range of active trips including the Treasures of the Baltics cycle, Montenegro to Albania Coastal Cycle, Kvarner Bay Bike & Boat, Danube Explorer to Budapest and Madeira cycling adventure. He has also enjoyed family-focused trips in Croatia and the Greek Islands.

As UK Manager, Gordon combines decades of global adventure travel with deep knowledge of Europe’s walking and cycling destinations, helping travellers discover the region’s most rewarding routes and experiences.
