Mélodie Theberge

Growing up in the bilingual and multicultural city of Montréal, Mélodie developed a passion for languages and learning about cultures from around the world. While she hadn’t travelled much beyond North America early on, everything changed when she had the opportunity to live with a host family in Germany during CEGEP. This experience sparked her love of exploring Europe and marked the beginning of her travels further afield.

Since then, Mélodie has travelled to destinations across Europe and Asia, including France, Switzerland, China, Japan and South Korea, where she worked in a small town and enjoyed the opportunity to experience everyday local life and culture.

After joining her first active travel tour, Mélodie discovered how rewarding it can be to explore a destination on foot. She enjoys the balance of challenge and discovery that active travel offers, often revealing places and perspectives that are difficult to experience on traditional holidays. These trips have also become a meaningful way for her to reconnect with friends after moving away from Montréal.

Outside of travel, Mélodie plays on two recreational soccer teams in Ottawa. The multicultural mix of teammates has sparked her curiosity about even more destinations, including Sweden, Estonia and Myanmar.

Looking ahead, Mélodie would love to visit Normandy in France, Scotland, Austria and the Baltic countries, and is always open to revisiting places she has already explored from a new perspective.
